Dear Friends,
Summer has arrived, bringing with it plenty to do for us grass farmers! We had average spring rain and the grass is green, if a bit short. But first, we must joyfully announce the birth of Reavis Sheldon Lohof on October 23, 2014. Reavis joins 8 year old brother Hans in bringing much merriment to us here on the ranch. We are also grateful to have grown children, Rachel and Kirk, and their families living in the area.
Order Info
2015 Prices and Order form can be found by clicking here. We do our best to keep our costs and prices low while at the same time remaining viable for the future. Hopefully you continue to find our prices for grassfed and finished all natural beef competitive and reasonable. We truly appreciate all the support you have shown us over the years, and the friendships that have developed.
We are now taking orders, with bulk beef orders reserved upon receipt of a deposit. Most of our processing is in the autumn, with a limited number of beef available in July. All of last year’s bulk beef was sold prior to processing so we encourage you to contact us as soon as you can. We look forward to providing you with delicious, all natural, well-raised, grassfed beef and thank you for all the effort you put forth on your end!
Sheridan Farmers’ Market
Our 5th season at the 2014 Sheridan WY Farmers’ Market proved to be our best ever. Turnout was excellent and a Chef Throw Down, Fall Festival, and weekly 4-H events made even the hottest Thursday evenings enjoyable. Look for our booth at the 2015 Sheridan Farmers’ Market, July 9th through September. Hope to see you there!
Rangeland Improvements
We continue our ranch projects, adding several more miles of pipeline last fall as part of the Sage Grouse Initiative. Visit The Furrow publication to read more about our project. We used some of the new livestock water tanks over the winter to expand grazing opportunities. The cows calved on fresh pasture and the mild spring weather was a bonus for new mamas and babies.
Phase 2 of the waterline project involves installing wildlife-friendly electric cross fencing so that we have more pastures to rest longer and to graze for shorter duration. In addition to improved cattle and soil health, we hope the sage grouse and other wildlife will thrive.
Interns
During the past year we have thoroughly enjoyed the company and good help of several great interns. Hans expands his geographical
knowledge of places such as Australia, France, Belgium, England, and various US states and we all take pleasure in sharing our remote corner with others. Plenty of fencing and beef remain should you wish to visit anytime!

Certified Grassfed by Animal Welfare Approved
Last year we obtained AWA certification of our cattle and processing facility, and this year we became Certified Grassfed. We feel that AWA Certified Grassfed is the most rigorous certifying group and provides a trusted label for our meat in stores.
AWA is already widely recognized and respected as a trusted brand when it comes to farm animal welfare, outdoor access and sustainability. Holding AWA Certified Grassfed certification proves the meat from your farm or ranch not only comes from animals raised entirely on a grass and forage diet, but that you are also managing them according to the highest possible welfare standards. No other grassfed label can offer producers, retailers, and consumers this breadth and level of integrity and assurance. AWA is also the farm animal program in the U.S. that is accredited to international standard ISO 65, adding to our credibility in the marketplace.
All the best,
Christy, Patrick, Hans, and Reavis Lohof
